Holly Norris Yates

Having originally trained as a doctor and continuing to practice part-time as a general practitioner, Holly returned to university to study textiles and graduated from the Open College of the Arts, University of the Creative Arts, UK – CertHE Textiles, 2016. Since leaving college, she has continued to explore the extremes of what textile art can be; by innovative and experimental work with materials including ceramic clays and acrylic media. She has other lines of artistic enquiry in digital textile print design and fine art printmaking.

Working in partnership with Stephen Yates, ceramist and painter, they have produced a number of exhibitions together, with a shared interest in conveying a sense of place in response to their travels as well as their home of Portland.

Her work:

Holly explores the extremes of what textiles can be, by innovative and experimental work combining fibre and embroidery with acrylic media. Drawing is at the core of all her work, observed from life and developed in a semi-abstract way. Holly has recently been selected to feature in a South West Visual Arts book on drawing with accompanying exhibitions. She is a member of Wessex Contemporary Artists (WESCA) and the Society For Embroidered Work.
